Senior Vet Discounts is being built to help Veterans and Seniors remember and use discounts they may qualify for before they pay.
The website provides general information about Veteran, Military and Senior discounts.
The mobile app will be designed for the moment when you're actually shopping, dining or traveling.
SeniorVetDiscounts.com is the information center.
The app will be the practical shopping tool.
The goal is to keep the process simple enough to use every time you shop.
Enter your basic information, home ZIP code and whether you are a Veteran, Senior or both.
Your home ZIP can be the default. When traveling, simply enter the ZIP where you are currently shopping or dining.
Search nearby restaurants, stores and other businesses in that area.
If a nearby business also appears in our discount database, the app can display relevant discount information.
Open your Veteran or Senior reminder screen before the cashier or server completes the transaction.
Report whether the discount was available and optionally record how much you saved.
When you create your account, you will enter a home ZIP code.
That becomes your normal shopping area.
But you are not locked into it.
If you're visiting another city, staying at a hotel or taking a road trip, simply enter your current shopping ZIP.
The temporary shopping ZIP does not need to replace your home ZIP.

This is one of the most important parts of how Senior Vet Discounts is designed.
The app does not need to permanently store every individual restaurant, store and business location.

When we have information about a business, the app may show:

Once you select a business, the app can open your phone's navigation system.
That means Senior Vet Discounts does not need to become a complete mapping system.

Knowing that a discount might exist is only useful if you remember it before the transaction is completed.
That is why the app is being designed with a simple Show feature.
When appropriate, the user can open a clear screen for the cashier or server.
The screen does not force the merchant to give a discount.
It simply helps start the conversation before payment.
Veteran users may be given the option to verify Veteran status through an approved verification provider such as ID.me.
Senior Vet Discounts should only store the minimum information needed to recognize verification status.
The goal is not to collect military documents.

Discount policies change. Community feedback helps reveal what users are actually experiencing.

Over time, reports can provide useful context without pretending that every location follows the same policy.
Reports may also include the user's ZIP code, allowing future regional patterns to become visible.
